How to stay safe on public WiFi networks

Hackers can easily see what you do on your device while you're connected to a public network, and they may even be able to gain access to your device altogether.

Free WiFi hotspots are usually provided by businesses and public places but can also be maliciously set up for criminal purposes — such as hacking.

Those using public WiFi networks can keep themselves both secure and protected by using a virtual private network (VPN). These are easy to use and can either be purchased online or downloaded for free from your preferred app store. To find out more about these, please talk to someone you trust, such as: a teacher, colleague, friend, or family member.
