US President, Joe Biden, rescinds Trump's 'TikTok, and WeChat ban'

Updated: Jun 12, 2021

President, Joe #Biden, has now rescinded #Trump's #TikTok, and #WeChat 'ban'.

Biden has now said, instead of the TikTok, and WeChat ban, the #US government will conduct it's own investigations, examining the apps to ensure that they do not pose a risk to American cybersecurity, privacy data, or any data in general.

When former US president, Donald Trump put the TikTok ban into force, TikTok sued Trump's administration, accusing them of targeting the agency, and blocking transactions within the United States.

TikTok said in their lawsuit: “We do not take suing the government lightly, however we feel we have no choice but to take action to protect our rights, and the rights of our community, and employees.”
“Our more than 1,500 employees across the US pour their hearts into building this platform every day.”

TikTok said Trump's administration “failed to follow due process, and act in good faith, neither providing evidence that TikTok was an actual threat, nor justification for its punitive actions.”

Former US president, Donald Trump, accused the apps of being "spies for the Chinese communist party, and to obtain American's private information".

“The spread in the United States of mobile applications developed, and owned by companies in the People’s Republic of #China. (China) continues to threaten the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States,” former president, Donald Trump wrote when he issued the ban.
