Recently, a #Worthing man admitted to making unnecessary, harassing, and false 999 "emergency" calls, this is why I, Dwayne Hards (#LCN's founder), has decided to write an article, explaining the risks of hoax-calling the emergency services.
The most important reason hoax-calling the emergency services is dangerous is because when you dial 999/112, you are taking up the handler's vital time, and therefor, are risking other peoples health, safety, and lives, who need the emergency services, time.
Hoax-calling emergency services is also a criminal offense, and doing so can see offenders hit with a fine of up to £5, 000, or six months in jail, according to West Midlands #Police.
If you have called the emergency services by accident, you should explain this to them, or otherwise, if you hang up, they will think you are in danger, and will send the police out to you, which will waste their time for a real emergency.
