Sussex Police are currently investigating a road traffic incident — which reportedly happened during the early hours of Monday morning on the A27 — near Arundel, officers have confirmed.

Emergency services were in attendance to an incident where a driver rammed a police car that was parked on the A27 with its emergency lights brightly flashing. It is currently unclear as to whether the driver was distracted or not. However, according to investigating officers, this is being investigated and should be revealed soon.

Vehicles were practically unable to move, as drivers — who were planning to use the A27 — had to find an alternative route, resulting in several traffic jams throughout the counties of Sussex, Surrey, and Hampshire. Local bus services were also delayed with some delays lasting longer than 5 hours, resulting in several bus journeys being cancelled altogether.

Several people were injured during the collision and have been transported to A&E by paramedics. We (LCN) hope all injured parties are safe and well enough to be released from the hospital soon.
