Does the UK have its own FBI, and why don't many people seem to know the answer?

The National Crime Agency — NCA — is our most comparable police force to the FBI in the United States of America and is often referred to as the "British FBI". It has jurisdiction throughout the UK — as do all "local" police officers in this country — and is also known to work with foreign law enforcement, particularly when those countries are Interpol members.

Millions of citizens lack trust in the police, and their "crime-prevention" commissioners could play a major factor in the current lack of interest in how they operate — which may explain why so many people know little-to-no information about the NCA and also of the police in general when asked questions about them.
