Dog food pulled off shelves due to risk of salmonella, Milton Keynes shoppers warned

Benyfit Natural Pet Food recalls various brands of raw dog food products containing beef.

An urgent product recall has been announced by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) over fears some dog food products might contain salmonella.

Usually sold through various independent pet food stores and online, the recall affects 11 packs of Benyfit Natural Pet Food.

In a statement from the FSA, it said: "The products listed might be contaminated with salmonella. Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause illness in humans and animals. The products could therefore carry a potential risk because of the presence of salmonella, either through direct handling of the pet food, or indirectly, for example from pet feeding bowls, utensils or contact with the faeces of animals.
