Sussex Police officer fired after breaching final warning

A #Sussex #Police officer has been fired after breaching his final professional standards warning.

The police officer breached: courtesy, professional behaviour standards, respect, and authority.


Former police officer, Ian Upperton, 50, broke into his ex-wife's house, and made her topple over, this injured her. Ian also made threats to his ex-wife, and made threats, and remarks against her to another Sussex Police constable.


The former police officer attempted to intimidate his superintendent whom had issued him with bail.


Sussex Police said: “This officer’s behaviour fell far short of the standards we expect at Sussex Police."


“He has let himself, his family, the public, and his colleagues down.”


Ian Upperton was found guilty at his gross-misconduct hearing at Sussex Police headquarters, in #Lewes, and was fired from his duty as a policeman. The hearing took place on #June 18th, 2021.
