- How bad is bullying, and how can we help prevent it?
Bullying has affected almost everyone, s we need to stand up to bullies so that they don't take the absolute piss out of us. Bullying has affected one in every four people, according to Perpetual Fostering's #Bullying Statistics (view by clicking this link). What is bulling? Bullying is classed as any behaviour which is intended to harm someone emotionally, physically, or socially. How can we help prevent bullying? If we see someone being bullied, we should report it to the relevant people to sort the issue out. However, if you are bullied, you should report it. You can also retaliate to your bully, treating them the same way they treated you. We should stand up for those around us, and ourselves, to make make it clear that bullying will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Here are some ways to deal with bullying: report it; expose it online; retaliate (providing it is safe to do so); inform the police, or file a lawsuit, if the bully has commited a serious crime against you; ignore it; don't allow anyone to mistreat you or anyone else; video them without them knowing (with a hidden camera). #StampOutBullying #EnoughIsEnough #Law #News #Crime

- Man jailed for attempted murder
A 28-year-old Peterborough man — Jordan Greig — has been slapped with a 6-year jail term for stabbing his girlfriend and almost killing her, according to Cambridgeshire Constabulary. The attempted murderer called the emergency services, admitting his vile attack on his innocent girlfriend. The man repeatedly stabbed his girlfriend in the neck on March 22, 2022. However, miraculously, she survived the attack. The abuser's children saw his vile attack on their mum, and they will likely suffer with lifelong mental health issues. Shockingly, the man attempted to justify his spiteful attack, claiming he made a "split-second decision". Cambridgeshire locals — including its young people and social media users — are currently discussing the incident, condemning the man for his vile attack.

- Google car seen driving around Littlehampton
A Google Maps/Earth car was seen driving down Norfolk Gardens - a local neighbourhood - a few days ago. Google Maps/Earth should be updated by next year (2023). However, this is not 100% certain. I — Dwayne Hards, LCN's Founder — waved at the Google car seconds before it disappeared, meaning I should be on Google's street view soon. I check Google Maps every day to see if I'm on its street view (outside Toast, Norfolk Road) yet.

- Comment & Analysis: Should we be criminalising our young?
Criminalising young people is in no-one's interest, and giving young people criminal convictions will increase their chances of living a life of crime as they are less likely to be able to get a job if they have a criminal record. A vast majority of Sussex and Essex police officers know that unnecessarily criminalising people, especially when they're young, will do more harm than good. This is why these forces' officers only criminalise young people as a last resort. In actual fact, most UK police forces do the same as Essex Police and Sussex Police. Criminalising young people for having fun or showing off to their gs (friends) is not going to be in the public interest if the "crime" they have committed was minor; therefore, magistrates' courts would likely dismiss the case or give offenders a low-level consequence if it ever got that far — which is highly unlikely. In the United Kingdom, our police officers and courts use their discretion as to whether criminalising someone is in the public interest. If criminalising someone is not in the public interest, then the case will likely be dropped. The law should be used as a deterrent for those wishing to commit violent and serious crimes, not to scaremonger our young and innocent people who mind their own business.
- Comment & Analysis: When should we respect others' personal choice?
Personal choice should work both ways, and it should always apply to everyone unless someone is at an immediate risk of harm or loss. Personal choice should be respected, for the most part, when other people aren't being seriously affected by someone else's choices. However, if someone's behaviour affects other people, it is no longer considered freedom of choice because it's affecting everyone else; for example, smoking indoors or in an enclosed space. However, If someone wants to sit on a park bench and smoke a spliff, I don't see a problem with that because it's not seriously harming anyone, especially not other people. When people drive dangerously, this affects everyone around them and puts others at risk of being seriously injured or killed; therefore, this is not personal choice. However, if someone doesn't wear a seatbelt in the front seat of a car, this only affects them. Therefore, it should have nothing to do with anyone else providing that they're able to make their own lifestyle choices. In my opinion, we should all work together and stop politically competing against one another. Oh, and by the way, this works both ways — and so does fairness and respect.

- LCN in talks of writing more international news
I — Dwayne Hards, LCN's Founder — am considering writing more national and international news articles and writing about many different communities across Europe, the USA, and the UK. Because I think that West Sussex is totally crumbling, I'm thinking about writing more international and national news articles so that I can take a break from reporting on this judgemental and dork-inhabited county, West Sussex. I also feel that our local community would enjoy some real, independent, international journalism instead of my paper — LCN — reporting trivial news articles about this nerd-inhabited area. I mean, let's be real, hardly anything exciting happens in West Sussex compared to some other places, such as: Brighton, the City of Sunderland, Milton Keynes, or Essex. In these places, there are many young people like me. But, in Littlehampton, most of them are — well — nerds. If I write about these places, I wouldn't feel judged or personally attacked, nor would I feel that there's hardly anyone like me as I'd be writing about the chav-inhabited areas instead. The plan for LCN to write more international and national news articles is not definite. However, if this county continues to remain — well — boring, then there is a good chance of my paper writing more international and national news articles.
- Comment & Analysis: Littlehampton has a new Town Mayor
Councillor Jill Jong became Littlehampton's new Town Mayor on 13 May 2022. I am proud of Madam Jong for getting this far and becoming the new Mayor of Littlehampton, and I wish her the best of luck in her new role.
- London police officers crack down on knife crime
London's Metropolitan Police officers have recently been performing more stop and searches on those suspected to be carrying illegal weapons — such as knives. London police officers' current priority is removing illegal and dangerous weapons — such as knives and swords, sharp objects, and even firearms, as well as other types of weapons — from the streets of London, England. Officers seized many weapons, including: knives, batons and baseball bats, homemade weapons, screwdrivers, and even swords and firearms. Those carrying the weapons were arrested by officers. The stop and searches were performed "lawfully" and "fairly", according to Chief Inspector Richard Berns. This crackdown goes to show that police in the United Kingdom will not tolerate knife crime and that officers will be arresting those in possession of weapons, such as: knives and knuckledusters. "Only pussies carry knives," say many UK teenagers — including myself — and adults. Knife crime destroys and costs lives, so leave knives where they belong — in the kitchen, not in your joggers.
- Comment & Analysis: London's Met clamp down on knife crime — and so should other UK police forces
The Metropolitan Police Service and its officers have, in my opinion, done an amazing job at removing weapons — such as guns and knives — from London's streets. The Met's recent crackdown on knife crime has, without a doubt, saved many lives, and this is why the rest of the country's police forces should follow suit and hold knife-carrying criminals to account. Knife crime destroys lives, so leave your weapons where they belong — in your kitchen drawers, not in your bags or joggers. Congratulations, Metropolitan Police!
- Comment & Analysis: Young journalist receives 30-day Facebook ban — again
I — Dwayne Hards, aged 14 — have been slapped with a 30-day Facebook ban for calling UKIP far-right Christian morons. I'm currently on my 21th day of the ban, and I have 9 days to wait until it's lifted, according to Facebook. Banning someone on Facebook for having their own opinions, particularly if they're true, is undemocratic and possibly fascist. This is because the far-right and far-left extremists' way of ending an argument is censoring the opposition — and that's what Facebook have done by banning me for criticising far-right politicians. We live in a democratic country, so we should be able to have our own points of view and opinions without being censored — unless those incite hatred; for example, the capitol riots in the USA. I appealed the Facebook ban, and they rejected my appeal. This ban is a joke and potential fascism, in my opinion. Freedom of speech and expression works both ways — and so does personal liberty and freedom of choice.
- Could this be buses' substitute route?
A 700 Brighton bus took a shortcut through Church Street, Littlehampton, at around 7:55am earlier this morning to avoid roadworks. The bus cut through Church Street so that its passengers didn't have to wait for the temporary traffic lights to turn green. Taking this temporary route is much quicker during the roadworks. If 700 buses take this new route, they will still be able to stop at all of the 700 bus stops. It really makes no difference. The bus rejoined East Street, Littlehampton, shortly after it turned left at the Church Street roundabout. Rosemead Park, East Street, is the next bus stop after Anchor Springs, Littlehampton. This means that, if 700 buses take this temporary route, they won't miss any of their stops.

Today is expected to be a warmer day than yesterday with today's highest expected temperature being 18°C. No strong winds or showers are expected today. - Review: Littlehampton seafront
I visited the seafront earlier today, and I found the area and its visitors to be quite relaxed. The seafront appeared to be a tidy and well-maintained area. Arun District Council regularly remove litter and chewing gum from the promenade, making the area look nicer and tidier. People seem to be quite relaxed on the seafront, and they also seem to mind their own business most of the time. Wildlife — mainly seagulls and birds — seems to enjoy the area. However, I didn't notice any birds' nests near the seafront, but this could be because there's not many trees around the area. The sea can smell of sewage sometimes. However, the smell seems to have stopped now. I couldn't smell any sewage this morning. The seafront is a great place to visit when the weather is nice. However, during bad weather, the last place most people would want to visit is the seafront unless they want to be freezing cold and/or soaking wet.
- Littlehampton: Today's weather update
Today is expected to be a windy and cloudy day with a high chance of showers, according to the Met Office. Strong winds are expected to last for most of today. There is a high chance of showers coming and going for most of today. Today is expected to be a warm day with the highest expected temperature being 18°C. Today does not seem like the ideal time to visit the seaside. I would like to thank the Met Office for their information which helped me write this article.
- Here's why driving under the influence is a bad idea
Drug/drink driving causes countless amounts of innocent people — including children — to lose their lives every year, and this is why people should not, under any circumstances, drink or drug drive. If someone drives with drugs or alcohol in their blood system, they are putting other road users at risk of a serious, or even fatal, collision. Drug/drink drivers can face many criminal sanctions — including a six-month prison sentence, an unlimited fine, and a criminal record — if they're caught by the police. If those driving under the influence of drink or drugs end up killing someone, they may face a 14-year prison sentence. Stay safe on the roads, everyone.

Today is expected to be a warm, clear, and sunny day with the odd shower, according to the Met Office. Today is expected to be a warm day with the highest expected temperature being 19°C. No strong winds are expected today. Today seems like the perfect opportunity to visit the seaside. I would like to thank the Met Office for their information which helped me write this article.
- Man jailed for taking an innocent mum's life
A man has been sentenced to over 8 years in jail after he drove into three people — including an innocent and well-respected teacher/mum — in Wigan, England. Two of the driver's victims were injured. However, sadly, the 44-year-old mum didn't make it out alive. The 19-year-old unlicensed driver snorted nitrous oxide while he was driving, and he also tested positive for cocaine and cannabis. Incidents like this go to show how driving dangerously or under the influence of alcohol or drugs can ruin multiple lives. Driving dangerously or under the influence is likely to ruin your life because you will most likely be sent to prison and be given a criminal record, and you might have to live with the guilt of killing someone — for the rest of your life. Stay safe, everyone.
- Families planning their day indoors
Many West Sussex families have decided they will stay indoors for most of today amid the poor weather's return. There are only a few reasons families will be likely to leave their homes today, including: appointments, school, work, or exercise. Families are having to find activities to do indoors — for example, cooking or watching television — during today's wet and miserable weather. Let's hope the weather will be better tomorrow so that families can continue with their daily lives without getting soaked in the rain.

- Footballer rushed to hospital
A Littlehampton Town Football Club footballer — George — was rushed to A&E in an ambulance after he fell unconscious after he banged his head against another footballer's head at Wembley Stadium, according to the Littlehampton Town Football Club. The local footballer remains in hospital at this stage, and he seems to be feeling better. However, doctors have still decided to keep him in for a while longer to be sure that he has no serious or long-lasting injuries. Many people have wished George a speedy recovery on the Town Football Club's Facebook page. Let's hope that George gets out of hospital safe and well soon.
- Review: Beaumont Park, Littlehampton
Beaumont Park seems like the perfect area to visit. I visited Beaumont Park earlier today, and I found the Park and its surrounding areas to be quite tidy and well maintained. The area seemed to smell of freshly-cut grass and scented flowers and roses, I noticed on my visit. Local wildlife seem to love the Park and its surrounding areas. At least two birds' nests were present in the Park's trees and bushes. There are many bins - provided by Arun District Council - throughout the Park, and this encourages visitors to put their litter in the bins so that the area remains tidy. A few dog poo bins were also provided by the Council. However, this doesn't seem to stop a small minority of the Park's dog owners from refusing to pick their dogs' crap up (not that there's an excuse anyway unless there's an emergency). Some unlucky visitors end up walking in dog crap because of a selfish minority of ignorant and careless dog owners who refuse to tidy up after their pets. Buses are easy to catch from Beaumont Park as the 9 bus — which runs every hour on weekdays and Saturdays (not at all on Sundays) between Holmbush Shopping Centre, Shoreham-by-Sea, and Arundel — stops are located right next to the Boots Pharmacy and the Tesco Express. The 700 bus — which runs between Wick and Brighton — stops are only around a 10-minute walk from the Park, according to Google Maps. The 700 buses are supposed to run every 10 minutes from Monday to Saturday (20 on a Sunday); however, they're often running late. There are lots of things you can do at Beaumont Park, including: enjoy a nice walk, walk your dog, enjoy a game of football, enjoy some time watching the birds, and/or have a picnic. For the most part, the Park seems like the perfect area to walk around or explore. Most of the Park's visitors seem to enjoy their visits. I would rate Beaumont Park a 9/10, mainly because of its tidiness.

- Nice weather returns to Littlehampton
The return of the warm and sunny weather has seen people — including families, visitors, plane spotters, and residents — venture out once again. Families, young and elderly people, and holidaymakers have returned to the seaside to enjoy some fresh air; dog walkers have continued walking their dogs along the promenade; plane spotters have continued with their plane spotting; and shoppers have continued shopping at the High Street's shops and small businesses. Because of yesterday's miserable and stormy weather, hardly anyone was out in Littlehampton. However, people have now continued with their daily lives amid the sunny weather's return. Most people, who were out, appeared to be enjoying themselves and having fun. Let's hope the weather will be nice tomorrow so that people can continue enjoying themselves.

Consistent showers are expected to last for most of today. Today is expected to be a warm but miserable day with the highest expected temperature being 18°C. - Police in attendance to Littlehampton incident
Bridge Road has been closed off by many police cars and vans, and buses — including the 12, 665, and 700 — have been diverted. Traffic is piling up along Bridge Road and its surrounding areas amid the road closure. Bus services' routes have been severely affected with buses taking much longer than usual to get to their destinations. The seemingly serious incident has resulted in police instructing drivers on where to drive, and traffic is gradually becoming heavier and heavier as time goes on. The incident appeared to be a serious crash/collision; however, LCN cannot confirm this at this current stage. Let's hope that everyone involved in the incident is safe and well.
- The man who ate large burgers for 50 years straight
A McDonald's-loving man has reached his 50th year of eating a Big Mac on most days over the past 50 years, according to Guinness World Records. The man had counted every Big Mac he ever ate, and his reports show that he ate one on most of the past fifty years' days. He only avoided eating Big Macs for 8 days each year, according to his reports. Donald Gorske, aged 68, has decided to celebrate his 50th anniversary of eating a Big Mac on most of the past 50 years' days.
- New Worthing Mayor: Who will it be, and what do they stand for?
Labour Councillor Henna Chowdhury is set to become Worthing's new Town Mayor on May 20, 2022. Labour's Madam Chowdhury could make new history for Worthing politics as she could be the first female Muslim mayor. She is already Worthing's first female Muslim councillor, and she will probably be the town's first female Muslim mayor on 20 May 2022. Councillor Chowdhury attended the Northbrook Metropolitan College and has worked for the NHS and the Department for Social Security, and she has also done unforgettable amounts of volunteering and community work during her role as a councillor for West Sussex County Council. Tarring Councillor Rita Garner, female, is set to become Worthing's new Deputy Mayor on May 20, 2022. Labour now have a majority of seats in the Worthing Borough Council, and they aim to change the Conservatives' tradition of the deputy mayor becoming the next mayor to take office.
- West Sussex shop entrance flooded
Last night's stormy and rainy weather has caused the outside of the Co-op store, Ferring Street, to flood. Last night's storms have left massive puddles outside of the Ferring supermarket. However, fortunately, the store's staff and customers should still be able to enter the premises without getting soaked. One reason why the puddles are so severe is because there are many potholes on this road, meaning the holes fill with rainwater. Let's hope the potholes are fixed soon.

- Animal remains cleared from Littlehampton
An animal's leg - which appeared to have belonged to a fox - was removed from Granville Road, Littlehampton, a few days ago. Littlehampton Town Council were notified about the suspected fox leg, and they appeared to have removed it. This isn't something most people would expect to see when walking or driving around a small town like this. RIP.
- Police ignoring e-scooter riders in public
UK police forces' officers are usually seen taking no action against the riders of e-scooters on public roads and footpaths unless someone is at an immediate risk of being seriously injured. Police officers are highly unlikely to enforce e-scooter riding, cannabis possession, or other minor offences unless someone is at an immediate or serious risk of loss or harm. Police can be seen turning a blind eye to low-level offences unless bigger crimes are being committed as well which, in this case, the police would add minor offences to the bigger charges. This is commonly referred to as "throwing the book". In the worst case scenario, the most a police officer will do is seize your cannabis or e-scooter and give you a verbal warning, but this is only likely to happen if you're being antisocial or a "dickhead". The most a police officer is likely to do is arrest you and give you an out-of-court disposal and/or a fixed penalty notice if you're being antisocial and have refused to move on when the officer gave you multiple chances to do so. The law is only likely to be enforced if people are at risk of being seriously injured or stolen from; for example, drivers texting while driving or young people smashing shop windows. The police are generally quite relaxed in Sussex, and they don't seem uptight about low-level offences. They can be seen turning a blind eye to low-level offences — for example, cannabis possession or e-scooter riding — that are being committed right under their noses on the Littlehampton High Street.
- Littlehampton seafront jammed amid the scorching hot weather
Many people flocked to the seaside earlier this afternoon, enjoying their time out on the beach. The seafront's visitors appeared to have enjoyed their day out.
- Young swimmers enjoy a visit to the seaside
School-aged swimmers - who arrived on a coach - appeared to have enjoyed an afternoon swim in the sea of East Beach, Littlehampton, earlier today. The school-aged children were being taught how to swim, and they appeared to have enjoyed their lesson. The children were also being taught how to surf. The young swimmers seemed quite talented for their age. This goes to show that you can be talented at any age despite what some elderly people say. Hopefully, we will see the young swimmers again soon.
- Students visit the seaside
Foreign exchange students - who appeared to be German teenagers - visited the Littlehampton seafront earlier this afternoon, and they appeared to have enjoyed their trip. The foreign exchange students were seen working on their projects and engaging with some of the town's residents. Residents appeared to have enjoyed engaging with the students. The students appeared to have had a great day out on East Beach.
- Plane spotters continue with their hobby
The return of the warm and sunny weather saw local West Sussex plane spotters — including myself — head out to look for aeroplanes. Let's hope that the nice weather lasts for a while so that our local plane spotters can continue enjoying their hobby.
- The dangers of ignoring level crossings' warning signals
Crossing a level crossing when the lights begin to flash amber can be a fatal mistake. Over the past few years, a small minority of adults and children have been climbing over level crossings' barriers and thinking they're being "cool". However, they probably won't think it's "cool" if they're either in a hospital bed or under the wheels of a train. Many people have lost their lives on level crossings, particularly those who were crossing dangerously. Not only are those who ignore level crossings' signals at a serious risk of being hurt, the train driver and their passengers are also at risk of developing mental health issues — for example, PTSD, stress, or other lifelong conditions — after seeing the person get run down. This isn't fair on the innocent train drivers or their victims' families, according to Network Rail and most of the UK. Remember that level crossings are not playgrounds and to always cross them safely and only when their lights are green. If the lights are amber, just wait whether you're on foot or in a vehicle.
