  • Completely vaccinated vacationers may be 'allowed' to travel with fewer 'restrictions', UK govt says

These new 'travel rules' may mean that travellers could travel to favoured 'amber-listed' vacation spots, such as, #France, #Spain, #Italy, and #Portugal. These countries are currently on the government's 'amber-list'. A lawsuit is due to be planned against the government, in contempt of their green, amber, and red Covid-19 light system. A government spokes lady said: “As set out in the Global Travel Taskforce, we are working with industry for a safe return to international travel, guided by one overwhelming priority, public health." “Decisions on our traffic light system are kept under constant review, and based on a range of health factors." “Recognising the strong strategic rationale, and success of the vaccine programme, we have commenced work to consider the role of vaccinations in shaping a different set of health, and testing measures for inbound travel.” Dwayne Hards (#LCN Founder/#Leader) said: "I do not understand why people who have had both vaccines would be given special rights because people who have been vaccinated can still spread #Covid-19. This doesn't make any sense, this is about control, and is unlawful."

The fox was found to have got it's head stuck in a cement mosquito trap. Keith Collins, and Wendy Bradmore, found the fox in their garden, cement mosquito trap, on #June 15th, 2021. Wendy Bradmore said: “We came downstairs at around 7am, and spotted the silly little fox with her head well, and truly stuck. She appeared to be wedged in a big chunk of concrete, but my Keith explained that it was an old mosquito trap made out of concrete with a hole in the middle which was used to attract the bugs, and trap them inside." “It seems she’d dislodged the metal part that sat inside, and pushed her head inside, but got stuck. I didn’t even know this thing was in the garden, and it was really upsetting to see her stuck there, distressed, and struggling to breathe." “We tried to give her some water, but she was incredibly frightened, so we called the experts for help.” Keith, and Wendy contacted the #RSPCA for urgent assistance, RSPCA inspector Kate Barnes responded. Kate Barnes said: “We found a small piece of cake at the bottom of the gap, so we think she followed her nose in there for a snack, and bit off more than she could chew!" “The concrete was very thick, and strong, so I called for assistance from West #Sussex Fire, & Rescue Service’s technical rescue team.” Firepersons had to be incredibly cautious when freeing the fox, luckily the fox was freed safely with spreaders. The firepersons had to carefully cut the cement. Kate added: “We popped her in a cage, and checked her over, but thankfully, she didn’t appear to have any injuries from her ordeal.” “It’s always a last resort taking a fox, especially a youngster, away from their home, and family, so I decided she was well enough to release in the garden, so she could find her way back to her den, and recover in the comfort of her own home!" “Hopefully next time she’ll think before she follows her nose, or her stomach!”

  • Dwayne's Guidance | Littlehampton residents: Think before you call 999/112, is it an 'emergency'?

Calling the emergency number, 999, or 112, when there is a genuine emergency is crucial, however, many people dial the wrong number when they could have simply called (for example) 101, or 111. Some even hoax call emergency hotlines. Hoax calling emergency services is incredibly dangerous because you are taking a call away from a potential real emergency, and the person who actually needs police, coastguard, fire, or ambulance is likely to receive a delayed response. Calling 999, or 112 to play a prank, make a hoax call, or having no reasonable excuse for dialling the emergency number is a criminal offense, and could land offenders in some quite serious trouble. Offenders may receive up to six months in prison, and/or receive a £5, 000 fine. Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: "How would you feel if a member of your family was unable to get the help they required because the police, fire, or ambulance services had been called away on a hoax call?" The general rule is, if you feel yours, or someone else's property, safety, or welfare, as well as health is in an immediate risk of harm, or there is any immediate danger, it is best to call 999. However, if you feel that it is not necessary to call 999, please call the police on the 101, #NHS on 111, and the fire service on their general-enquires number (find out on their website). Unnecessary 999/112 calls can cost someone's safety, life, or emergency response because someone who generally needs an emergency response has been had their crucial response held-up by a hoax call. Is there any difference between 999, or 112? No, there is very little difference between the two numbers, except that 112 can be used in any #EU country. The call goes to the exact same place as a 999 call. #CallSmart #999WhatsYourEmergency #Police #Fire #Ambulance #Call999 #Call111 #Call112 #Emergency999

  • Littlehampton fox needed rescuing after he got his head lodged in a coil reel

A #Littlehampton fox had to be rescued after he got his head stuck in a plastic/coil reel outside of St Catherine’s Catholic Church, #Beach Road. The #RSPCA rescued the animal after 'Carl Davies' saw the injured fox in need of help, and telephoned the RSPCA for emergency help. Carl said: “At first, I thought it must be a dead dog, but then I saw the poor thing was alive, and had a cable tunnel stuck on his head, and he was in a lot of distress, struggling to get it off. It was a terrible thing to see an animal suffer like that.” Deputy Chief Inspector Charlotte Baumann said: “He was only a young fox, and was well, and truly wedged inside a wire coil reel holder, which was discarded in the car park." Carl added: “I’m so delighted I was able to help the fox, and that he has been released. Sadly, a lot of people throw rubbish over into the backyard of the church, so I don’t know where the reel came from. It’s so irresponsible when people litter, as it can hurt both animals, and humans alike!” Charlotte added: “We’d advise anyone who spots a sick, injured, or trapped fox, or any other wild animals in need of help, to contact our emergency hotline on 0300 1234 999. And we’d urge people to ensure they dispose of rubbish, and discarded items responsibly so that wild animals can’t come across them, and become injured, or trapped. Sadly, we deal with around 5,000 incidents every year in which animals have been trapped, hurt, or killed due to litter."

  • If you are going out today, remember your sun cream, and hat!

If you are going out to #Littlehampton's coast, or anywhere in general, then please remember to wear, and pack your sun cream. Please also remember your hat. If you do not wear your sun cream, the consequences could be quite nasty, and potentially dangerous because you could be burned by the sun's dangerous UV rays, however, the sun cream blocks these harmful waves of ray. Please also ensure that your children, teenagers, or relatives, as well as your friends remember to use their sun cream, if they refuse, remind them of the risks, and if they still refuse, refuse to let your children go out until they wear the protection. It's ok to keep your children safe. You could also try buying different sun creams, or wearing protective clothing instead if sun cream doesn't work for you/your relatives. If you do not wear sun cream, here are some of the possible outcomes/risks: sunburn, skin cancer, your skin losing colour, and possibly turning red, aging spots, freckles, aging, and heatstroke, as well as many other negative health impacts. #WearYourSuncream #Suncream #SuncreamSavesLives

  • Could Megalodons still exist?

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megalodon Megalodon, meaning "big tooth", is an extinct species of shark that lived approximately 23 to 3.6 million years ago, during the Early Miocene to the Pliocene. It was formerly thought to be a member of the family Lamnidae and a close relative of the great white shark. While famous movies, documentaries, and mockumentaries have come to the conclusion that the Megalodon is still alive, it is unquestionably extinct according to marine biologists. However this is not to say that the Megalodon is most certainly extinct because according to https://www.worldwideboat.com/news/... Just 5 percent of Earth's oceans have been explored and charted – especially the ocean below the surface, The rest remains mostly undiscovered and unseen by humans. Therefor, there is no way of knowing for sure as to whether Megalodons are extinct, or not until we have explored the full 100% of the ocean, until then, we can not be sure either way. On our #Twitter account, we have run a vote requesting people's belief as to whether megalodons may still exist (1), not sure (2), or No (3). 100% Voted Yes (1). Until we have explored the full 100% of our oceans, then there is no definitive answer as to whether the megalodon shark still exists. Until proven either way, the opinions people have on megalodons are only conspiracy theories. The current answer is: As of yet, we are unsure. Dwayne Hards Littlehampton Community News

President, Joe #Biden, has now rescinded #Trump's #TikTok, and #WeChat 'ban'. Biden has now said, instead of the TikTok, and WeChat ban, the #US government will conduct it's own investigations, examining the apps to ensure that they do not pose a risk to American cybersecurity, privacy data, or any data in general. • Can you compost salt without hurting the process, or environment?

Ideally, salt should not be used in a compost heap because salt kills many reptiles, (beneficial) insects, and other animals. Salt may also harm the environment because according to https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2018/12/11/road-salt-harms-environment/ "USGS pinpointed road salt as the source. Chloride is toxic to aquatic life, and even low concentrations can produce harmful effects in freshwater ecosystems. High chloride levels in water can inhibit aquatic species' growth, and reproduction, impact food sources, and disrupt osmoregulation in amphibians." Salt in compost is also bad for worms because salt dehydrates them, which as a result will kill them. Worms are a beneficial, and useful compost aid. No worms = slower compost.
